Home use DVD. Movie drama based on the extraordinary true story. Jae-chul Bae is a South Korean operatic tenor with a voice that has been described as “one that comes along once in a hundred years.” A Japanese producer, Koji Sawada, hears him and invites him to Japan and becomes his friend. At the peak of his career tragedy strikes and he discovers he has thyroid cancer. Surgery takes away his voice by cutting his vocal chords. He wonders why he has been singing. Even though he became world famous he is not sure what that means anymore. But the story does not end there. A Japanese surgeon performs vocal chord reconstructive surgery to give him back his voice. After a long and painful rehabilitation there is a miraculous recovery that astonishes the doctors. He not only talks but he actually sings again. The movie stars Ji-tae Yoo as Bae but the singing voice is Bae’s. In Japanese 25%, Korean 10% and English 65%. During Korean and English segments there are Japanese subtitles. 121 minutes long. DVD features include an extra 30 minute documentary/testimony by Bae. In this feature we hear him say that God gave him his voice and he is now singing for God’s glory.
