シアワセナラテヲタタコウ
If You're Happy and You Know It Clap Your Hands
(Shiawase Nara Te o Tatakoh)
Mori Yuri and Rihito Kimura
Kimura wrote the original title song in the 1950s as an expression of Psalm 47:1 and a prayer for peace in the aftermath of war. As a university student he became a YMCA volunteer in the Philippines and discovered the pain of the people who had been terrorized by the Japanese army in WW2. He heard children sing a Filipino melody and wrote the words as a gift to children and a path to joy. It became known and translated world-wide into many languages. Mori interviews Kimura and then sings the song in the version made popular, plus a Christian version with more verses by Kimura that follow his original purpose of expressing the Psalm. Then the Christian version is provided in a karaoke (sing along) format. There are 3 more songs including What a Friend We Have in Jesus and two traditional Japanese songs: Yashi no Mi and Shinda Otoko no Nokoshita Mono wa. CD
